Ta-Da! The orange office!

I know, I know. You all are on pins and needles about my finished office, or maybe not! But here it is anyway. If you remember, my hubby got to decorate this room, which happens to be our loft/office. I was mortified at the paint chip, but I think it's growing on me. I even got orange jewel looking knobs for the cabinet hardware on our fabulous handmade bookshelf cabinet! The racing stripes make the man happy so I guess they aren't that bad!  And remember? The walls are magnetic! LOVE IT! Now, I just need some window coverings for the large window. I am thinking black and white checker or maybe just black. I want them to go with the car theme, but not be too juvenile. Help a sister out! Tell me your opinions! I understand if you hate this room but I am bound to it :) so help me out. Please.

Easter Blocks

It's close to Easter and my walls still looked bare. I got together with a friend and we made blocks. I have done Mod Podged letter blocks before, but this time I used small ribbon, rick rack, flowers, buttons, etc. to pretty them up a bit. Simple, free, and quick to do. My kind of project.

Car Roll Up

If it has wheels, or even a motor, (or even a fake motor), and can go vroom, my son loves it. On Sunday before church, I decided to make him something I had heard of, but hadn't seen a lot of. So here it is-my version of the Car Roll Up. I used helicopter fabric since helicopters can also say a version of "vroom". My son, who just turned 2, sat through all of church and this was the only thing he played with! WAY worth the effort!

More bookshelves...just bragging a bit

My bookshelves/cabinet made it on Ana's bragging board at Knock Off Wood! Go check it out, along with some other A-MAZING projects! Really, if I could do it, so can you!

Spring Wreath

I have seen wreaths that are made with random ribbons, fabric, and such, so here is my spin on a Spring wreath. It makes me happy, even if "Spring" means there is only one more month until HOT summer in Arizona! {And I love these flowers since they require no water!}

I made it!

I have been eyeing this storage system over at Knock Off Wood. My husband thought I was nuts to try to attempt this! But with the office being ORANGE (see why HERE), the reddish wood venir bookshelves HAD to go! My dad was awesome and came to help! (Which means we brought the wood home in full sheets of MDF and cut everything ourselves!) In just 2 days, here is the final product, minus the door hardware. Thanks Ana for AMAZING plans! We added a third shelf at the top and shortened the length of the units on the right. It worked out great! And I have to add-I am loving the nail gun! I want one of those! (This unit is about 7 ft tall and 7 ft wide...)

Easter Egg Topiary (I heart the dollar store!)

Using some glittery egg on picks I found at the dollar store about a month ago, I made this topiary. I didn't have a styrofoam ball on hand, so I improvised with rolled up plastic bags and packing tape. It worked just fine. I hot glued on the eggs and some floral moss, added a pink dowel, and used a bucket from the dollar bins at Target. Now after tomorrow (St Patty's Day) I will have something Eastery to decorate with!

Spring has Sprung (at least here it has!)

After taking my son to the park on an absolutely beautiful sunny day, I HAD to come home and create something springy for my kitchen. I had some new towels and TONS of scrap fabric (I admit, fabric is a bit  of an HUGE addiction of mine!). I cut out tiny pieces of fabric and put a dab of glue to tack it in place while I sewed EACH piece on. I thought the sewing would never end, but it really didn't take all that long! Here is what I created! Spring has arrived!

Art and picture display board

My son is just about 2 (next week). Now that he is doing "artwork" and bringing home projects from our church nursery, I needed a place to keep everything. I searched high and low for a frame large enough for what I wanted and detailed enough to be cool! After weeks of searching, I found this frame at Hobby Lobby for 80% off! I can't beat a deal like that!
I used wire hangers and made swirls using pliers. I glued each one onto the back of the frame using industrial glue. It wasn't quite staying in place to dry, so I used a staple gun on top of that.
Then, I glued felt on the back of the frame to protect my wall.
I nailed on a picture hanger, then I hung it!

Color My World!

I haven't had much time to craft lately. Here's why... When we moved into our home (over 3 years ago) I chose ALL the paint colors. My hubby liked them, but jokingly said he wanted to choose the paint for our office (which is our loft). I told him he could have full control of the office. IT STAYED WHITE {until now of course}. Off we went to Home Depot the other day. I watched him pick the colors. He picked Tangerine Orange and Onyx Black! When I asked him his reasons, he said he wanted the room to be like a fast car with black racing stripes! (GASP!) I mean, come on, how can you be cutesy with orange and black? SO, being the kind of girl that keeps her promises, I let him at it! SCARY, I know. He even bought magnetic paint primer so our office walls could be magnetic. How cool is that! I will give you a teaser picture. It's a teaser because the office is not organized yet and I just can't bring myself to take a picture of such a mess! Keep in mind, it was ALL the hubby's idea! {But I do have to say, it isn't as bad as I thought, and I guess anything is better than the white walls! I may be falling in love with the color and maybe even the racing stripes, but don't tell him!}

Covered Pillows

These are the pillows that were inherited with the set of couches we have. They match the couch, but they are not really MY style. I have lived with them in my living room for about 3 years - Ahhh! (don't judge me!). It's almost embarassing. I think my house is pretty cute, but to overlook these ugly pillows for that length of time is a crime!
To make it worse, I have also had these pillows (there are 2 of them) and red small couch/chair in the SAME room. (Okay, so THAT is even more embarassing!) Just look:

So I have a red theme going on, but ugly, non matching pillows. So here is my cute fix, some pillow slipcovers!

Now comes the sigh of relief! My mismatched pillows are not only gone, but FABULOUS!!
