Car Seat Tent/Canopy MY version with dual purpose!

I have less than a week to go with this pregnancy! I got out some leftover fabric from the baby's room decor, and decided to make MY own version of a car seat tent/canopy. You know, those things to keep breathing, coughing, nosy people away from your newborn :) Well, I winged it with the amount of fabric I had. My canopy ended up being about 36" wide by about 38" long. It was simple to make. I basically put two pieces of fabric right sides together with giant Ric rack in between and sewed them together, leaving an opening for turning right side out. I added two loops with Velcro to attach to the car seat handle.
Here's what I ended up with:
 Here is the lining:
BUT WAIT! It gets better! I was on my way to make a new girly nursing cover, when the light bulb in my head went off! What if I just made a strap for my canopy so it could double as a nursing cover? So I used some fabric and mitten clips and made a strap. It reminds me a bit of a bib at the dentist :) Now I won't have to carry a million things around!
And yes, there's more! What woman with can't-sit-still-itis can settle for just one of these canopies? Not me! SO here's my second one (ruffles and all):
And remember: In my Etsy shop, Lalabua Baby, I have a coupon code JUNEBUG for 10% off any purchase for the month of June to celebrate my coming arrival! Happy crafting (and shopping!)

Yummy Cake Rice Krispies

I usually don't post too many recipes, but hey, I am pregnant and here is one recipe I just HAD to try immediately! (And it was love at first bite!)

Cake batter Rice Krispies

What you need:
6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
7 Tablespoons of butter
1/3 cup cake mix (I used yellow cake mix)
1 bag mini marshmallows (I think they are about 10 oz)
1.75 bottle of sprinkles (I had a giant bottle, and just used enough until they looked "pretty")

Melt your butter in a huge pot. Add the entire bag of marshmallows. Stir constantly until they are melted. Add cake mix a little at a time and keep stirring. I turned off the heat here. Add the cereal and then most of the sprinkles. (Save some for decorating the tops of the treats). Spread sticky mixture into a greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle on the remaining sprinkles. Cool, then cut into squares. Heaven!

And now for the shameless plug, I have a sale going on in my Etsy shop, Lalabua Baby. Thru Monday use code MEMORIALDAY to get 10% of any purchase!

Girl Nursery-Part 1

These past few weeks have been filled with nursery decorating. My mom flew in from out of state for some "motivation" to get things done! We moved furniture and painted like mad women (other post to follow). I found some fabulous fabric online for the nursery and decided to slip cover all my son's crib bedding. It is Caleb Gray Cupcake Confections. I LOVE this fabric. I wanted the walls in the room to be subtle, but still pretty but not pink (vision was NO pepto bismol theme!) I ordered a giant stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils and got to work with my quart of yellow paint. Here is the end result of the paint and bedding. I love how it turned out, now I just need to finish the rest of the room! I should add that the changing table was mine as a baby and the painted chest was made for me in Norway and given to me by my great grandma, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Update and Boutique

Do I even dare say that it's been over 8 months since my last post? I guess we all need that "time off" to be uncreative. Well, my excuse was pregnancy. Yep, I am 7 months pregnant with a girl! But, the beginning of my pregnancies always bring on a long uninspired time too. I haven't had much inkling to do anything creative, UNTIL NOW! YAY!

I have been sewing my little heart out for a boutique this past weekend in Mesa, AZ. I think my products and my display turned out wonderful! See?
Now, I have extra handmade lovelies in my shop. I have baby booties, baby and toddler ties, crayon rolls, and lots of other fun stuff! (Perfect things for Easter baskets or for wearing on Easter!) Check out Lalabua Baby.
